Spring 2008 brings New Release's from both Northern Lights and new artist to Fifty Fifty Music Kaydi Johnson.
One Day is the long awaited album from Northern Lights, the legendary bluegrass/newgrass band that has been performing for more than 20 years. One Day continues the band's tradition of stretching the boundaries of bluegrass and acoustic music. Folk legend Jonathan Edwards, who is featured as a guest artist on the album, describes their music as "a brand of acoustic music that is as innovative as the instruments are traditional." As Edwards puts it, "This is a band that has always held sacred the musical values of all those that have gone before and then taken us on a journey of exploration and discovery that is at once courageous and comfortable." The band features Ben Demerath, Bill Henry, John Daniel, Joe Walsh, and fiddle prodigy Mike Barnett..
We at Fifty Fifty Music are pleased to announce the release of Peasant of the Wreck ", Kaydi Johnson's new CD. It's not easy to put Kaydi Johnson's music into a neat package or box. This artist deftly cracks the stereotype of the cordial female singer/songwriter holding a guitar. Known for her witty word plays and tightrope topics, it's tough not to get drawn in and intoxicated by her crisp musical style and insightful lyrics. Her eagerly awaited third CD, "Peasant of the Wreck," (produced by David Seitz- Moby, Bruce Springsteen) transcends the safety of your garden-variety composition. Exploring themes of family, corruption, politics and love, Kaydi holds nothing back. Sometimes funny. Sometimes sad. Maybe a bit unpleasant, but always downright real.
